Tier System
Design Dance instructors receive a Tier Assignment upon hire based on their teaching experience and performance
This Tier Assignment determines an instructor’s pay rate, and is subject to change each year as a result of the instructor’s performance review. This review is based on careful consideration of the instructor’s performance in the following domains:
Planning and Preparation
Classroom Culture and Environment
Instruction
Professional Responsibilities.
Planning and Preparation
Discipline literacy, knowledge of students, and teaching resources
Teacher preparedness with materials and resources
Lesson plan structure
Lesson plans goals and objectives
Lesson plan activities and pedagogical approaches
Understanding of prerequisite knowledge
Classroom Culture and Environment
Interactions and connections with students
Behavior expectations, procedures and routines
Communication and tone
Cultivation of student ownership
Inclusive and culturally responsive environment
Instruction
Explanation and modeling of content and class expectations
Application of social and emotional learning techniques
Choreography preparation
Adjustment and pivoting of instruction to meet student needs
Professional Responsibilities
Teaching experience and retention rate
Professionalism
Pre-Assessments and Post-Assessments
Acceptance and application of observation feedback
Reliability and communication with administration
Upholding the Design Dance mission
